A piece of what I'm working at right now

Though we don't intend to publish "Raks" in English, I want to bring to you a least a part of it. I give my best to translate it. This is, where the "portal" part of our portal fantasy begins.

They had barely gotten out of the hotel when Raks stopped suddenly as if bitten by a serpent.

"What the heck! It wasn't here yesterday," he said.

Now Anna too noticed the graffiti on the hotel wall. She couldn't tell if it was there in the evening or not - she had eyes only for Raks yesterday. Well, here it was anyway. Anna didn't share Ragnar's interest in graffiti, but she could not deny that this one was good.

A door was painted on the wall. The verisimilitude of the picture was amazing. The artist seemed to have put a lot of effort into all the details - the pattern of the grain on the wooden door, an embossed silhouette of a mighty tree adorning the door, and a door handle that seemed to shine like real metal. It was all so lifelike that it could pass as a real door at first glance. Strange symbols surrounding this door spiced it up even more. A strange thing about it was writing enthroned atop the door - "Enter, Raks!"

"Weird!" Raks stepped closer to the picture. Suddenly Anna got the creeps. There was something odd about this picture. And what was Raks's name doing in there?

"Heh-heh, if somebody took the effort to paint me a door, we should see where it leads," joked Raks and reached his hand to the door handle.

Barely had his hand touched the picture, when some kind of a vortex took him dragging him into the door.

"What..." Raks panicked and tried desperately to free himself, but got sucked more and more into the door.

"Raks!" In a panic, Anna grabbed the only thing she still saw of her boyfriend. Still, she couldn't manage to pull Raks back. She felt the pull of the same vortex that had taken Raks, but it never even crossed her mind to let him go.

Anna screamed seeing her hand disappearing into the picture. She felt Raks trying to pull his hand out of hers.

"Oh no, you are not going anywhere without me," said Anna and dived into the picture.

An emptiness enveloped her. She was alone with Ragnar inside a nameless void.

 The door had disappeared.

Instead of trying to pull his hand free, Raks tightened his grip on Anna's hand.

Out of nowhere another door appeared in front of them. Raks and Anna shared a hesitating look.

"I don't think we have anything to lose. Whatever there is on the other side of that door, it can't be worse than this f... emptiness," said Raks and popped his head out of the door.

"Mnjaa... It's not Tartu, that's for sure."
